A Message from John Slosberg

I came to acupuncture and Chinese medicine because it helped me at at time when I felt western medicine failed me. Having grown up in the Boston area, bastion of Western medicine, I believed that the Doctor could solve any and all health complaints. In the late 80’s I began experiencing some significant fatigue which was not something that the traditional medical system could effectively address. I saw numerous physicians, top in their field and was repeatedly told I was fine. I sought out alternatives, acupuncture among them, and slowly, but surely, my health improved.

This experience ignited within me an interest in alternative medicine and was a natural extension of my willingness to challenge the status quo. I enrolled in acupuncture school in 1994 and started my practice three years later because I wanted to help others.

Having grown up around successful business people, I gained an understanding, respect and appreciation for what it means to strive towards excellence. I have taken this understanding and applied it to my work as an acupuncturist.

I have also been extraordinarily fortunate to have had a number of different mentors in my life, representing a wide range of disciplines. In 2008, I met Dr. Malvin Finkelstein, O.M.D., who teaches ACT (acu-current therapy), an innovative and highly effective modality, which is used in conjunction with acupuncture primarily for treatment of pain. I began an intensive study and practice of this technique since that time and have witnessed its robust capacity to address complex and challenging pain cases. I am a strong believer in the value of mentors in learning any field, well. I am very grateful to have found a highly experienced, knowledgeable man who was willing to impart his wisdom to me.

It is my belief, based upon first hand experience, that ACT and acupuncture used in combination can help a great number of people suffering from pain. Many people believe that they have to live with pain, and it is simply a part of getting old. This is profoundly not true. I endeavor to bring all of my experience and hard work to each and every patient, listening attentively to his or her concerns, and delivering the fastest result possible.
